MOYNIHAN TRAIN HALL
A decade-long surveying engagement at one of New York City's most celebrated infrastructure transformations — the $1.6 billion restoration of the James A. Farley Post Office Building.
MOYNIHAN TRAIN HALL
Moynihan Train Hall is a $1.6 billion world-class transit hub located within the historic James A. Farley Post Office Building, directly across from New York Penn Station. At 225,000 square feet, the development dramatically expanded the available concourse space and now provides access to Amtrak, NJ Transit, New York City Transit, and Long Island Rail Road — serving up to one million commuters daily.
This massive undertaking was completed in three phases over the course of a decade. Muñoz Engineering, as a subconsultant to Skanska, provided surveying throughout this project's entire lifetime — from the early expansion of the West End Concourse through the full construction of the new train hall.
Working within the constraints of an active, 110-year-old historic landmark built above live rail platforms, our team delivered precise survey control that enabled accurate positioning and coordination throughout each phase of this extraordinary project.
